“The Earth has music for those who listen.”
-William Shakespear
One day in May, we followed the photographer Chun-Kuang Liu and traveled to Lion’s Head Mountain in Taiwan through the lens of his camera. The Shuilian Bridge trail that came into view is rather tranquilizing. The trails expanded beyond our view underneath the shade of forest.
Glutinous Rice Bridge
This glutinous rice bridge, built in the seventh year of Taisho (1918) in the Japanese occupation era, has a history of a hundred years. The ancestors used stone as the main material, then built the stone into squares, and added glutinous rice and sugar with lime to make an adhesive. The stone arch bridge built was called “Glutinous Rice Bridge” in ancient times. The overall shape and texture are simple and solid. From the viewing area next to the trail, we can clearly see the beautiful arched structure of the ancient bridge.
One-Line Sky
When we walked to the stream and looked in the direction of Glutinous Rice Bridge, we could see the “one-line sky” landscape cut by the stream into a depth of more than ten meters.
Pot Hole
On the Shuilian Bridge across Shizixi, people can overlook the beauty of the deep ravines by the river. The terrain of the pot hole and the cave is very spectacular.
The pot hole is a topographic landscape that often appears in the upper reaches of the river. After the rain, when the flow of the river increases, it drives the upstream stones to flow downstream. When the stones encounter the rock recesses on the river bed and cannot move forward, they will be driven by the water flow and rotate. After a long time of impact and friction, a circular hole is formed, called a pot hole.
Traveled with the photographer Chun-Kuang Liu and witnessed such beautiful scenery.
Such a beautiful view calmed our breath and mind. With such beautiful view, we listened quietly, enjoying the peace that mother nature offers.
